Roselle Park — The Union County Democratic Party tonight unanimously endorsed Phil Murphy for governor, naming him the party’s standard-bearer on the June 6 Primary election ballot.
Murphy was the choice of all 21 municipal party chairs who assembled for a candidate screening and vote.
Union County is home to more than 148,000 registered Democrats.
“I am grateful for the overwhelming support for our campaign to take New Jersey back from the Trump-Christie agenda,” said Murphy. “Union County is a microcosm of our state — diverse, with proud cities and close-knit communities. I look forward to working with Chairman Jerry Green and his team to ensure success up and down the entire ballot.”
Union County is Murphy’s third county endorsement in two days, coming on the heels of Essex and Middlesex counties on Tuesday.
