The Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, IAFF, AFL-CIO, the statewide representative of career professional firefighters, emergency medical, and allied support services personnel has announced its endorsement of Phil Murphy for governor of New Jersey.
“Having a governor who understands the challenges we face is paramount to changing a detrimental atmosphere in Trenton that no longer respects the risks and sacrifices firefighters and EMS professionals must endure to protect New Jersey,” said Dominick Marino, President of the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey. “Governor Christie’s irresponsible budget cuts, reduction of aid to municipalities, and attacks on public sector workers has caused a serious shortage of firefighters and emergency medical personnel across our state. We know that Phil will change the culture in Trenton and return respect to fire-fighting and emergency services.”
“I am honored to stand with the dedicated professionals who protect our neighbors and am honored to have their support,” said Murphy. “I am committed to not only restoring respect for the men and women for whom public service is a calling, but ensuring that they have the resources to keep our communities safe.”
The Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey represents approximately 3,500 professional firefighters and EMS personnel in 70 locals across the state. PFANJ is the New Jersey charted State Association for the 300,000 member International Association of Fire Fighters.
